The morning sun peeked through the curtains at Ballina Manor Hotel, signalling the start of an exciting day. After another beautiful Irish breakfast overlooking the River Moy, Our guests packed their clubs and we set off towards County Sligo Golf Club. The drive, winding through the scenic countryside, offered stunning views of rolling hills and rugged coastline, setting the tone for a perfect day of golf.
Arriving at the course, the abnormal sunshine and heat For this time of year along with the fresh sea breeze greeted us as we took in the spectacular surroundings of Rosses Point. This championship links course, one of Ireland’s finest, was in pristine condition. The undulating fairways, challenging bunkers, and breath-taking ocean vistas made for an unforgettable round. Despite the course’s challenges, every shot was a pleasure, especially with the backdrop of Benbulben looming in the distance.
Rosses Point itself is a beautiful coastal village renowned for its stunning beaches and panoramic views of Sligo Bay. Steeped in maritime history, the area has long been a favourite among golfers, sailors, and nature enthusiasts alike. The Atlantic breeze and shifting dunes add an extra dimension to the game, making every round here a unique experience.
County Sligo Golf Club, founded in 1894, has a storied past and is one of Ireland’s most prestigious golf courses. The night, however, was still young. A short stroll led our guests to the Hogans Bar one of the lively pubs and bars of Ballina, where traditional music filled the air. A few pints of Guinness, some great conversation with locals, and the electric atmosphere and a few Card games ensured the night ended on a high note.
